Davie Gray was educated at the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde and has spent several years working in the field of early intervention work with children, young people and families in areas of multiple deprivation. In addition to this work he has spent time working as a caricaturist in a number of Indian restaurants in the Glasgow and Renfrewshire areas and has used art as a motivating and therapeutic tool in his professional work.
Davie has developed a particular interest in literature and has built up a substantial collection of caricatures of writers, both living and dead. Having held a number of solo exhibitions of his work in the Glasgow area during the late 1990s, he published his book, "A Wheen O' Blethers" - The Changing Face of Scottish Literature, in 2000
